Age range and level of GFT trainees
Most of the in-person GFT players are select ages 10-17 and many of them play for top teams/clubs in America.
We also work with players age 5-9 who play academy or rec.
During the off-season college and pro players train with us to stay sharp.
One of the most popular programs is my online ball control courses, helping players improve skill and confidence.
Online trainees range from novice players up to D1 college kids. I love getting emails and texts from the parents showing the videos for me to give feedback. Helping people from UK, US all the way down to New Zealand and Australia.

Youth soccer players ages 7-12
The most popular way to breakdown players is by age. Though, this can mean nothing at the same time.
You probably know this, but there are kids age 8 who are more skilled than 16 year olds. Therefore it’s hard to say what players need to do by age.
I can break down where each age should want to be, but it’s not necessarily true for every player.
The age group of 7-8 for the most part is very novice, but there are a few dozen players in each major city who are amazing. I think this topic could have it’s own blog post lol.
Ages 9-10 are getting to the age where the basics fundamentals still need to be stressed. Don’t worry about going to advanced in the training (for most players). Make sure they are still getting lots of reps passing short with both feet as well as being introduced to bending balls and striking with the laces.
Here are the 4 best ways to kick a ball for this age and older.
11-12 year olds are getting to the age where some are very good. For these players who have been getting good coaching, make sure the players are not becoming arrogant. There are always players who are working harder and with more talent.
Middle and high school soccer
Adolescent age players need to always keep up the fundamentals. Along with trying to be perfect at the basics, it’s important to be learning more advanced passing, shooting and first touch drills.
Here’s a post on what competitive players should be working on.
