5 minute chocolate protein mug cake
It’s chocolate time!
As most of you know – Jeremie has a serious problem with sugar. However that is not uncommon among high-performance athletes.
Still, he doesn’t run as much as he used to [sorry J!] and therefore my sister [his wife] is always looking for ways to entice him to consume less sugar but still satisfy his sugar cravings.
Well here it is – and it’s a great, quick fix for after late games when everyone is tired but you want to visit or need to get in some food – you can fuel the body and the soul without the calories or sugar spike!
Chocolate protein mug cake
- 1 scoop chocolate protein powder – like this
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp date sugar [or Stevia]
- 1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 cup egg whites
- 1/8 cup unsweetened almond milk
Stir all together in a microwaveable mug, microwave for 1-2 minutes…
Watch and stop when you see it starting to fall over out of the top.
Just push the top back down into the mug (or use a wide-mouth mug) a bit [although I put a plate underneath just in case of a mess].
Serve with 1 tbsp of almond butter on the side for perfection 🙂
Enjoy!
As a sports parent, it’s refreshing to learn how bonding with your kid can be making chocolate cake – that’s healthy:)
