Some of our Athletes and their families are traveling to Seattle for the ECNL National Finals this Summer in June 25-30. I highly recommend you talk to the family and see about extending your trip and driving 2 hours up to Vancouver B.C. I lived in Vancouver for 2 years playing for the Vancouver Whitecaps {Pro Soccer Team} and out of 17 Countries I have been to Vancouver is my favorite City for sure! Below is a list of things I put together for you to check out while you’re there.
If you have time rent a car from Seattle to Vancouver B.C. which is only a 2 hour drive from city to city. Coming back think about flying a puddle jumper plane to Seattle, which might give you the best sites you have ever seen, and will land you in the water in downtown Seattle. While in Seattle go to the space needle, fish market and just take a drive around the lakes & city.
10 things to do in Vancouver B.C. {Canada}
STOP! GET YOUR PASSPORT IF YOU DON’T ALREADY HAVE IT
1. FIFA Women’s World Cup – Watch the best female soccer players in the world or just experience the hype downtown
2. Capilano Suspension Bridge – One of my favorite places! Walk over a suspension bridge and then walk through high trees that are attached with small bridges. Great experience!
3. Commercial Avenue – Food from all around the world from Mongolian to Jamaican to things you’ve never heard of.
4. Chinatown – If you have never been to a China town this one is one of the biggest in the world
5. Stanley Island – nice drive & view which is downtown
6. Robson Street – If you like shopping this is the place to go and they will also have restaurants where you can sit on the patio and people watch
7. Granville Island – Great central spot in Vancouver where you can go buy fresh fish at the market, eat at a nice restaurant or just walk around
8. Kitsilano Beach – White sandy beach with lots of people playing and laying in the sun. You can see downtown with the mountains in the background.
9. Science Word – Good for the kids and being indoors for a few hours
10. Queen Elizabeth Park – So beautiful it doesn’t even seem real with all the flower, plants and waterfalls
*(These 10 are in order of places to go first, so you can hit them all up without going back and forth. Not in order of my favorite; just trying to save you time:)
Victoria Island – is beautiful but is a 2 hour ferry ride so might want to do this another trip or if you are there for several days.
Whistler – 2 hour drive north which is where the Winter Olympics were. The drive is nice with big water falls but again if you are only in Vancouver a few days this will take up half a day.
Enjoy your trip to the Northwest!
