If you’re going to watch the World Cup in Vancouver here are 10 things to do in addition to watching the games. I lived in Vancouver BC for 2 years playing for the Vancouver Whitecaps (pro team). Out of 17 Countries I have been to for soccer, Vancouver is my favorite place! From the beach, mountains, shopping and eating you will stay busy and have a blast. Most of these things are downtown near the stadium.
Seattle is only a 2 hour drive to Vancouver
If you have time fly into Seattle, rent a car and take a scenic and short drive to Vancouver B.C.
Coming back think about flying a puddle jumper plane to Seattle…
This short flight might give you the best sites you have ever seen, and will land you in the water in downtown Seattle.
While in Seattle go to the space needle, fish market and just take a drive around the lakes & city.
10 things to do in Vancouver B.C. [Canada]
GET YOUR PASSPORT IF YOU DON’T ALREADY HAVE IT
1. World Cup – Watch the best soccer players in the world or just experience the hype downtown. BC Place holds 56,500.
2. Capilano Suspension Bridge – One of my favorite places! Walk over a suspension bridge and then walk through high trees that are attached with small bridges. Great experience!
3. Commercial Drive – Restaurants / Food from all around the world from Mongolian, Jamaican to things you’ve never heard of. Great place to watch the world cup matches with friends.
4. Chinatown – If you have never been to a China town this one is one of the biggest in the world.
5. Stanley Island – scenic drive downtown overlooking the water, glass skyscrapers and mountains.
6. Robson Street – If you like shopping this is the place to go and they will also have restaurants where you can sit on the patio and people watch
7. Granville Island – Great central spot in Vancouver where you can go buy fresh fish at the market. Eat at a nice restaurant or just walk around while overlooking downtown, bridges and the water.
8. Kitsilano Beach – White sandy beach with lots of people playing and laying in the sun. You can see downtown with the mountains in the background.
9. Science Word – Good for the kids and being indoors for a few hours
10. Queen Elizabeth Park – So beautiful it doesn’t even seem real with all the flower, plants and waterfalls
Save walking/travel time… *(These 10 are in order of places to go first, so you can hit them all up without going back and forth… Not in order of my favorite; just trying to save you time:)
Beautiful places 2 hours away by car and ferry
Victoria Island – is beautiful but is a 2 hour ferry ride, so might want to do this another trip or if you are there for several days.
Whistler – 2 hour drive north which is where the Winter Olympics were… The drive is nice with big water falls, but note that this will take up half a day.
