The UEFA Champions League is my favorite futbol even besides the World Cup. Being a skills trainer I’m often meeting new soccer parents and players. The younger ones don’t know what Champions League is… Many kids don’t even watch soccer at all. It’s very important for young players to watch pro soccer because it helps you understand the game much faster.

Explaining UEFA Champions League
It’s an annual tournament that starts off in Sept and ends in May.
The larger professional leagues in Europe get 4 teams who can qualify.
Smaller leagues like Denmark or Portugal have 2 teams that qualify.
By the time the quarter-finals come around there are usually teams from 7 different leagues.

How many teams / format
32 teams are split off in eight groups of four. Each team plays the other two times, a game home and away.

Once in the round of 16 there is a draw…
You play the team you draw 2 times – home and away and the total score of the two game is added up.
Quarter-final – 2 matches home and away – aggregate
